February 10th it became possible to register .co.nl domain names for Trademark holders. That day, the CO.NL Operator opened the second phase of its Sunrise period, that is meant for the holders of a Trademark. This phase will last until March 10th and provides all Trademark holders with a temporarily priority in registering their .co.nl domains.

World wide there are already 50 countries that use similar domain names (.co.uk for England, .co.jp for Japan etc) and now the Netherlands is following with a .co extension of its own. Especially for international visitors of your website, your domain with a .co.nl ending is very recognizable and thus easy to locate.

The availability of .co.nl domains is being launched in 3 steps (the so called ‘Sunrise’ procedure). The result is that persons and companies with a specific right will receive priority. This priority is temporarily and will expire once the Sunrise phases ended. For more information concerning .co.nl we are referring to www.domain.co.nl and http://www.eurodns.com/offers/view/11.

February 10th the second phase of Sunrise started. During this phase each holder of a Trademark has the temporarily right to register the identical .CO.NL domain. Hence, the holder of a Trademark named ‘EuroDNS ‘ is the only one who can register www.eurodns.co.nl during these 4 weeks. This phase ends on March 10th and so will the right on priority for Trademark holders.

Pls take notice that:
- All domains are awarded on a ‘first come, first served’ basis during the Trademark phase
- The Trademark may be registered in any country in the world
- No local presence is required; the registration of .co.nl domains is possible for everyone!

On March 17th, CO.NL will open up completely with a Landrush and all parties interested can register their name.co.nl.

The standard price of a .co.nl domain registration is 14 euro at EuroDNS. During the Sunrise phases all domain applications will need to be checked by an independent validation agent (Deloitte) and a onetime surcharge will apply on top of this standard price.

During the Sunrise period you will have the best chance to claim the .co.nl domains that match your Trademarks. Hence, if you’re interested in securing your names with the .co.nl ending we recommend that you register these during this period. Applications can now be submitted in your standard EuroDNS account.
