Hoy por hoy no. Y a medio plazo tampoco. El .com es la extensión "por defecto", pero no sólo en los navegadores, sino en la imaginación popular sobre la red. Es casi un sinónimo de internet, interiorizado como tal por la inmensa mayoría de los usuarios.
Lo que sí hará esta noticia es contribuir a que los .tv sean conocidos y -tan importante al menos- asociados a sitios de éxito. -

Buena noticia aunque en realidad es la compra de un negocio y sitio desarrollado como ya otros indicaron. pero todo empezo por un .tv (al igual que el business.com)
Estoy a punto de adquirir un mounstro e inmediatmente vendra mi ultima venta .tv (perdon por el comercial)

No, es imposible. El TLD por excelencia es el .COM, recordar que se ha vendido una web, no un dominio. Pero como ya dije, la venta es buena sobre todo como "case stydy". -

Frankly, which do you prefer sport.com or sport.TV ?
Which have more sense ?
If we think in the medium/long term, dot.TV could be king in future for some key.
Moreover, dot.TV is one of the two extensions which really means something (with .info).
Others don't mean anything except for ccTld, but not international so.
Plus, it's the only extension everybody can understand, whatever his country is, from mongolia to kazakstan evrybody watch TV.

My opinion, maybe wrong but still my opinion.
About typ-in, it's what i said, everybody know 'TV', so... type .com or .tv is not a big difference, and it had more sens in SOME CASES with .TV, for sport fro example.
Even, i don't believe in typ-in.
We all have a little box in browser called a gg bar or yahoo bar.
Everybody will have this in several months.
What is the most difficicult, to type 'http://www.mykeyword.com' in the url bar or 'keyword' in gg bar ?

I don't think all habits are so established.
Internet have less than 10 years for most of people.
Maybe 30% of users are recent, or less than 2/3 years.
You know what I mean, a lot of people don't have internet now, or are newbies, so their habits can, or will, change.
Even, it's internet, never 'established' !

In a recent poll most people in England said they didn't know that .eu was an actual extension ...!
A la mejor en paises tercer mundistas y en desarrollo habria una pequenya oportunidad inyectando mucho dinero en mercadotecnia.
En la mayoria es el .com y/o el c.c que mandan! (no necesariamente en ese orden)

Yo en lo que insisto mucho en el lado positivo es en el poder de "remembranza" o "memorabilidad"...
TV esta posicionado fuertemente en nuestra mente e uso diario...
Creeo que ayuda mucho al desarrollo y mercadotecnia de un sitio...
Y ahora con los .info castigados puede ser como Javi lo ha demosrado en que se posicionan facil...
Y ciertas palabras van muy bien pro ej: lo de deportes o juego(s) , viaje , todo lo relacionado a lo que vemos en tv
por supuesto todo lo visual o de video ...
por ejemplo como que ringtones.tv no va muy bien, mejor va con los .mobilDomains for sale: BtcArg.com FondoBTC.com TravelDupes.com NubePrivada.com -
