.ASIA launch on the 9th of October

ASIA is the new top level domain for Asia. Any registered trademark or company name (registered in Asia) can be secured in the Sunrise period for prior rights. You can already now send in your order, and we will submit them in the correct Sunrise phase.

These are the dates to apply for your rightful domains. European Domain Centre will provide the local presence for Sunrise 2, however the applicant has to have a locally registered company in an Asian country to apply in Sunrise 3.

Sunrise 2a (Oct 9-Nov 13): For registered trademarks with application date before 16.03.04.

Sunrise 2b (Nov 13-Jan 15): For registered trademarks with application date before 06.12.06.

Sunrise 2c (Nov 13-Jan 15): Same requirements as for Sunrise 2a and 2b. May be constituted with Mark plus significant words from the class description in the Nice classification (example: Mark for “XYZ” in Nice class 1 “Chemicals” may apply for “XYZchemicals.asia”.)

Sunrise 3 (Nov 13-Jan 15): Domain name applied for must correspond with the registered entity name (ie. Company name / organisation name). The entity must have been registered before the 06.12.06. Company has to be located in an Asian country.

If there is more than one applicant with the same right, then the domain will be auctioned between the applicants. The auction is arranged by the .ASIA hostmaster directly with the applicants.

Please be aware that the Landrush opens in February 2008. It is open for all and, given the experience with .EU, it is certain that domains not secured in the Sunrise period will be registered by other parties – so secure your rightful domains now!

.IS - easier to register

Foreign registrants of .IS domains have until now been required to confirm their ownership of the corresponding trademark at the Icelandic Patent Agency (Einkaleyfastofa) before the domain can be registered. This requirement has now been lifted.Foreigners can now, just as Icelanders, register any .IS domain they please. Foreign nationals, however, are still required to identify a domestic contact person. European Domain Centre will provide the local presence.

Two weeks prior to the respective sunrise / landrush period all customers will receive an invoice regarding the pre-registration. All paid applications will be submitted to the registry. Please note that the initial registration period requires a minimum of 2 years and therefore the pre-invoice will include the non refundable application fee for sunrise registrations plus the fee for 2 years domain registration. The registration fee will be refunded, should the application not be successful.


Pre-Sunrise (Key-Systems GmbH will not participate.)

* Governments in the DotAsia Community will be invited (through their respective GAC representative or ccTLD) to submit a list of relevant reserved domains.


Sunrise 1 (Key-Systems GmbH will not participate)

* Individual governments or authorized bodies may "activate" (i.e. register) those domains from the reserved domains list on a First-Come-First-Served basis.


Sunrise 2
Holders of registered trademarks may apply for domains corresponding to the marks they hold. Applications in SR2 will be verified by verification agents. If more than one application is successfully verified, all successfully verified applicants will be invited to bid for the Domain Name applied for in accordance with the Auction process.

* SR2a Start date: Oct 9, 2007
Handling fee: 90 Euro / 107,10 Euro incl. VAT plus registration fee 30 Euro / 35.70 Euro incl. VAT
- Mark must be applied for before March 16, 2004.
- Mark must be issued and valid upon domain registration application.
- Applicant must have demonstrable usage of Mark (in the class if applicable) registered.
- Registrant must be owner, co-owner or assignee of Mark. Documentary evidence is not mandatory, but required upon request.

* SR2b Start date: Nov 13, 2007
Price: 90 Euro / 107,10 Euro incl. VAT
- Mark must be applied for before December 6, 2006
- Mark must be issued and valid upon domain registration application.
- Registrant must be owner, co-owner or assignee of Mark. Documentary evidence is not mandatory required, but required upon request.

* SR2c Start date: Nov 13, 2007
Price: 90 Euro / 107,10 Euro incl. VAT
- Mark must be eligible for SR2a or SR2b (application for domain in SR2a/b is not pre-requisite)
- Domain Name applied for may be generated with mark plus significant words from the class description in the Classification system.
- E.g. Trademark for "XYZ" in Class 1: "Chemicals" may also apply for "XYZChemicals.Asia"


Sunrise 3
Registered companies (private and public), organizations, societies and other associations are invited to apply for domains that correspond with their names.

* SR3 Start date: Nov 13, 2007
Price: 90 Euro / 107,10 Euro incl. VAT
- Domain Name applied for must correspond with the Registered Entity Name (i.e. company name / organization name)
- The legal entity must be registered on or before December 6, 2006.
- Documentary evidence (e.g. certificate of incorporation, etc.) is required and must be submitted
- Submitted documents will be posted publicly (Note that SR3 begins simultaneous with SR2b & SR2c)
- Documentary evidence will not be verified but may be requested for validity. Verification comprises the accordance of the entitiy name and the domain applied for.


Landrush
Applications for domains by the general public are accepted provided that Charter Eligibility Requirements are met. Charter Eligibility Declarations for applications will be verified.

* LR Targeted date: Feb, 2008 (needs to be confirmed)
Registration fee: 30 Euro / 35,70 Euro incl. VAT
Multiple applications are possible at Landrush, domain names with multiple applicants will be allocated through an auction (please note: additional costs will occur).

All applications received during landrush will be deemed to be received at the same time.

At least one of the domain contacts must be located within the dotAsia community.

The minimum registration period at landrush will be 2 years.

Registration fee: 30 Euro / 35,70 Euro incl. VAT.
Registration and allocation according to first-come-first-served principle.

At least one of the domain contacts must be located within the dotAsia community.

CED Charter Eligibility Declaration Contact (Trustee)
To be eligible for a .ASIA domain, at least on of the Domain Contacts associated with the Domain Name must be a legal entity in the DOTASIA Community. You may use the trustee service of Key-Systems to be in compliance with the registration policy of DotASIA. The service fee will be published as soon as possible. The period of this agreement is always bound to the registration period of the corresponding domain name with Key-Systems.
Domain Auction
he anticipated level of interest for SR2 and SR3 Applications is high. Unlike other TLD launches, all domain allocations will be processed through an auction process in order to allow competing qualified parties to bid for a domain name.
The auction partner will be Pool.com, providing a comprehensive auction platform.

Applications received during the respective SR2 sub-phases and SR3 phase will be treated as received at the same time. Applicants have to pass the verification process (or the checking process under SR3) as set out in the preceding sections. Successfully verified Applicants will be invited to an auction for that domain name. Bidding is open to successfully verified applicants only.

Once the verification process is completed, all eligible Applicants will be notified. This notice will be sent reasonably ahead of time for Applicants to prepare for the auction and for a quiet period to ensue prior to the auction being held. WHOIS information and information relating to the prior right that give rise to an applicant`s eligibility to that domain will be provided to all the eligible bidders for that domain for their reference. At the Registry`s discretion, particular information about an applicant may be withheld. For example, certain elements of the Charter Eligibility Declaration information may not be disclosed to other bidders to the same domain.@Domainer
